It’s easy to assume Airbnb reviews are fair and objective. It’s no biggie to think the listed price is the best a landlord can do.

It’s another thing entirely to know how to read between Airbnb listing’s lines and never choose poorly again.

During my 24 months living out of Airbnbs (and similar), I’ve become a pro at sifting the good from the bad. In fact, I’ve only gone wrong twice in that time — and I’ve learned from my mistakes.

Move the decimal point on the rating

Take any Airbnb rating. Remove the first number and move the decimal point one place to the right.

4.72 becomes 7.2

4.96 becomes 9.6
